In Maths, we are working on subtraction. Today we used the Hundred Square and learned tricks about taking away 10 from any two digit number. (eg. 46-10) When we know how to do this, it is easy to take away 20, 30, 40 etc. Some of us learned how to use the hundred square to count back 11, 12 and other teen numbers really quickly.

Splat 100 helps us to learn these strategies in a fun way!

We listened to short “take away” stories and matched them to the subtraction equation. We then had a go at making our own stories.

We will do lots of practice with this at the start of term and revise it throughout the year.

Tasks have been assigned on studyladder at varying levels, so feel free to log in at home and practice.
